Title says it all.
I mean, holy SHITE: NOW even Wilson III is out for the rest of the season--he had surgery this morning "to correct congenital deformity in his hip", according to team reports. One small piece of luck: Having appeared in just 4 games, Eugene can redshirt his 2024 season.
ANOTHER injury that wasn't incurred during play, too. Between these AND all the ONFIELD losses on BOTH sides of the ball, we have definitely been snakebit this season.
Another question possibly raised by now:
Does Billy potentially gain a "pass" just on "his team continuing to play hard and IMPROVE in the face of this many injuries to key personnel"?
I suspectvthat if he wins one of the next 3, PLUS the finale on-the-road in Tallahassee, he very well now might.
If he doesn't reach 6 wins, though, it might be over no matter what. Certainly the FANS feel that way--and it doesn't get more "generous" OUTSIDE of Gator Nation either.
But if the "trigger pullers" have someone they want but can't get him, or for any reason are otherwise LOOKING for a reason to give him one more season, the rationale may be developing in that direction.

It is starting to feel like 2013 when the Gators had 23 athletes with major injuries. This year the number is 11 athletes, with 4 games to go.

I don't recall ever being down so many "quarterbacks and playmakers".
(But 2013 WAS especially bad, just in terms of total numbers.)

In 2013 we were also down to our 3rd quarterback. Kelvin Taylor, Mack Brown, Matt Jones, and Mark Herndon took turns getting injured at running back. Hunter Joyer was our fullback.

But hey--we still have Coach Billy...
(Sorry--Couldn't help myself...)
