Birmingham Bowl: Florida Gators vs East Carolina Pirates

Had half the team around the fumble and can't come up with it. Just another bumble fumble give the game away by the Gators. They are miserable!!

Gator Nation.

Without Vernon Heargraves III or Dante Fowler Jr. and our defense this shit could have easily been 35-0.

Gators, we got a long way to rebuild; but we will rise, and that starts in about 250 days.

I am so glad that Jeff Driskel is gone; but it is good he got us a W and not a fucking loss.

Shouts out to everyone who played in this game; but these Gators for the past few years are bad and are arguably the WORST ever.

Jeremey Foley has learned from this experience, and he will not let us suffer through this again. Trust me.

Well wasn't a good year but we beat Tennessee and uga got rid of muschamp and driskel and got a offensive minded coach and won our bowl so hopefully 2015 brings us better luck and coach mac brings us back to the days when we were feared and nobody wanted to play at the swamp. Hopefully we salvage this recruiting class and have some top players decide to come and help turn this thing around and restore justice! It's great to be a florida gator!!!!!!

Sorry to all...I warned I wasn't too interested in this game coming in...But I WAS interested in seeing what might come of all that pregame talk from Gators saying they were "ALL in" for this one, wanted to send their "old" coaches out with a "big win", AND were supposedly determined to show their "NEW" Coach something. Turned out I COULD have been around for at least part of this one, and would have done so if only to hang with y'all for "the first game of the year" and (presumably) "The start of a new era"--but (believe it or don't) was somehow under the impression that this game wasn't gonna be played til TONIGHT! Now best I'll be able to manage is either a run through the replay (which I did set my DVR for)--which, from the comments I'm reading here (AND the final score: Sorry, but only a real bust-out offensive performance was gonna give us any kind of satisfaction by now, small as even THAT was gonna be) was at best a "qualified success"--too much "more-of-the-same"? Sounds like we generally pretty well underperformed on the field AND sidelines again on offense--like maybe our talent advantage (and defense) was JUST enough this time. Well, at the very least that's an improvement over WAY too many performances the past season.
I'll take a full look at SOME point, I guess--if only to be able to comment and commiserate with y'all in the days ahead. For now, though, Again: I apologize for not even "stopping by". As I've implied elsewhere, hanging with y'all the past season was basically the only thing that made it the slightest bit bearable. "Thru' all kinds of weather...", right?
Thanks for being there. Now we get to hope, groan and cheer our way UPWARDS--where reaching for and finally making it to our goals makes all the probable pain-for-gain, the ups and downs we'll no doubt endure, WORTH it!

(Um, I just happened by early in the game-replay on a screen in this club--just in time to see a Gator WR drop a perfect long rainbow into his HANDS behind the defense on 3rd down of their first possession...Oh, I can see where this kind of thing might have driven me off ANYWAY before they finally apparently pulled this one out...Have to move on now, but I WILL at least take a "quick run thru'" by tomorrow morning, latest: Will do it at my Mac with GE up in front of me, get a better feel for how y'all's comments fit. Read 'em already once, got some idea I think of how this one went. Oh MAN...After that Gator-drop on 3rd down--that just rolls off the tongue, said and heard it so often the past season: "Gator-drop on 3rd down..."--Pirates just drove down and scored on THEIR second possession. We DO end up WINNING this thing, right? Well, that's something, anyway. Don't know how you guys kept your interest, let alone your composure, long enough to witness at least that. Kudos... Later, Gators.)

Whatta ya know? After "tearing myself away" from bar and game-replay, headed over to join girlfriend's family and friends in the restaurant here, and it turned out some cousin-in-law of hers (large group, don't know more'n a handful of these folks) is a Gator--and he filled me in on a lot of what ensued in the B-Bowl. His basic summation was, "Aside from BARELY winnin', ya didn't miss NUTHIN'!"--that sound about right?--but though he too was unhappy about having to watch "SO much Driskel again...", he told me that on offense Adam Lane was a real stand out at RB, but apparently it turned out Treon got hurt , "seems he tweaked somethin' early on" and though they didn't explain until the 2nd half, that was probably why it was "all Driskel" after that. Personally, I figure Roper and Durkin also wanted to give him a chance to have a little glory, "make an impression" after all that time, injuries, ups and downs etc. Once Harris was out, that was how it was gonna be. But I'm concerned, of course: Anyone have any further news about Treon's injury? He was banged up last few weeks of the season (knee was the main and worst thing, from what I understand), but I thought that had time to heal up...REALLY hope it's just "a precaution", at worst maybe something that'll need a little rest but should be finer, fully healed and ready by Spring ball. That would make the whole thing JUST not worth it, ya know? Driskel's likely leaving, and that's OK (don't need to belabor it here, but I think we can all generally agree on that one); Grier MIGHT be "good one" (if/when he fills out, steps up, "gets his feet under him" at this level)--but we all can see that Treon is "the real deal" already, a LEADER with talent and presence, and only gonna get better. Would appreciate as much info as anyone could supply, ASAP.

Right on, bra'...and I really believe we WILL rise--from here ON! Gaps all over the field already (especially on the O-line--and of course WR, just to mention the most glaring), losing some of our outstanding defenders, AND the recruiting hole the past-staff is leaving us in (without some OUTSTANDING moves there by Coach Mac and staff, including some grabs that we may not recognize as decisive as they turn out to be until later) may mean that's a slower process than otherwise, but even then I suspect we'll be feeling a WHOLE lot better about things even just ONE year from now. That's how big an upgrade I think it's turned out we made in coaching alone.
(Btw: I "detoured" over to the bar on way to restroom--OK, I chose that particular restroom on purpose--, and since that early Pirate drive, with Treon in there the Gators have run up 21 straight points on 'em...Fact alone it got close again when Driskel took over is just too much more of "the same ol' sh*t"--and raises once more that whole frustrating thing that amounted finally to Muschamp riding Driskel right out of Gainesville for BOTH of 'em. Like I said, SERIOUS "upgrade" at coaching, along with QB, etc.).
