Brantley steering clear of the comments, criticism

"In the days since Florida's troubling offensive performance in a win over Miami (Ohio), Florida quarterback John Brantley has tried to stay away from the internet, newspapers and talk radio.

Afterall, he's got a game against South Florida to prepare for. He'll leave the Monday morning quarterbacking to the fans and media.

"I try to avoid (ESPN, etc.) it all,'' Brantley said. "I heard some stuff, just like a rough start and stuff like that. I try to avoid all that stuff - good or bad really.''

It will take great discipline to avoid exposure.......
You're bombarded constantly, tv, radio, internet, papers, friends.
More power to him..........

The Gators poor performance wasn't even on Brantley. He was never given a chance to get the offense going. I doubt he's able to get completely away from it all, but the more he can stay focused on th task in front of him the better.

I think you mean that he needs to be focussed on the center in front of him, and where the heck the next snap is going. Last week it was a guessing game, to be sure.

A QB who has to suffer through - what, 5? 8? - bad snaps is already playing from a deficit.

That he didn't walk over to Pouncey and smack him in the head is a testimony to Brantley's character, I think.

From what I've been reading Brantley and Pouncey put in some practice sessions post-game to clean up the exchange and get on the same page. Once this has been straightened out, things can start to fall into place offensively.

Not only the bad execution was at fault, but during the game I made the comment that our guys were doing the "pee-pee dance" out there. A few of them were nervous, Brantley included - and it showed.

With Carl Johnson returning to the line coming off suspension, we should have a little more experience up front - would help if Xavier Nixon's ready to go, too.

This will make a huge difference. I think our entire OLine were not playing in their normal positions because of injuries and suspensions.
