What I do not understand is why Harris cannot connect on the deep ball. His nice throws were not hauled in, but his ugly throws are getting uglier. It could be a sign of frustration.
Lot you can say about the last few minutes of play, but comes down to this:
We DO have a good D--and when it counts, Fowler and Hargreaves are there to GET IT DONE. On offense, well, we do have Harris (finally), and (yes, right on cue) Christy.
There WAS no other plan, from this point on isn't one, except to run Treon, then punt. Now, that might have been an acceptable strategy if we had a TWO or more TD lead...a lame, dangerous-if-they-get-closer one, but "acceptable. But with just the 1 score between us and them, 10 minutes left? What happens if they march the field now? What THEN?
I hate these conservative play calls. It boggles my mind why for 4 years, no matter who we bring in (so called great offensive minds, Weis, Pease,Roper) we always run run run. This play calling has got us no where. One game against Georgia don't make us this ground and pound type of team. We need balance.
Let's hope that's true. Can't get OVER our "offense". Something to the effect of, "Oh, Harris seems to be running well, Let's just send him EVERY PLAY FOR THE REST OF THIS GAME. He gets hurt, we bring back JD..."I think the drunker I get, the drunker the South Carolina offense gets.
Remember, his throwing hand is MESSED UP--finger "split open" in 1st qrtr. OH!!! Wide OPEN pick-6, Big Guy!What I do not understand is why Harris cannot connect on the deep ball. His nice throws were not hauled in, but his ugly throws are getting uglier. It could be a sign of frustration.
