Gator Bites, Week 6: #18 Florida Gators vs Arkansas Razorbacks

Time for a defensive big play...These TV announcers don't know what they're talkin' about--going on and on about that "last efficient Arkansas drive for points"...I mean, ok, their job is to make it sound like there's a game ahead in the 4th qrtr--and there IS, only 'cause this Gator offense is like the hare--always taking a nap and waitin' for the Razorbacks to get something done. Unfortunately for them, it's against Muschamp's golden D--even missing so,e great ones and still learning to deal with it, I don't see them coming back on that D. Now, it's be nice if our offense could at least do enough to give 'em some rest, huh?

Wasn't "flagrant"--but no reason for it. Stupid. Again. Coaching: THAT'S a problem throughout the team. This is something I was really hoping would improve as we got rid of the last of the Meyer guys. DAMN.

Seriously. Muschamp is trying, but he's just not getting through, it seems. Thankfully, this defense (broken record skipping sound...or, since THAT'S almost unknown now, a robotic monotonal voice: "this defense is graaaaaat...this defense is graaaaaat...this defense is graaaaaat").
So, deszpite everything frustrating and not quite "right" somehow, by early in the 4th qrtr we can nonetheless say with a certain confidence, our D, plus one Patton quick strike, equals a Gator win. But can our offense NOT just give that D one decent rest here? Think he got it here...Not the way they spotted it, though...would have been nice if they'd gotten a couple of yards befiore 3rd down. This offense regressed almost back to JD-level tonight...Murphy DID come on, but he was trying to execute another for-sh*t "Pease-Plan". I'd love to make some Neville Chamberland jokes here, ya know, "Pease in our time (God help- us)" and so on?, but not sure how it'd fly--or if it'd be all that funny, really...

Our O line just can't get any movement. What's the deal?
Well, we ARE missing our Center now--but really, this was supposed to be a "Gator strength on offense", part of what is SUPPOSED to make our running game go, like it certainly DIDN'T "go" tonite (Almost got another score in the only way we ARE getting them tonight--with a great individual play--this time from Burton on the punt return).
See, the way we muck about , even in these victories, so far, tells me that we'll get beat when someone whose offense is running smoothly gets a decent lead early and makes US do the things we aren't used to doing, when and where THEY want us to try doing them. (Go for it here, guys--but with everything, they won't...If we weren't thinkn' four downs, wtf was THAT 3rd down play??? Couldn't even give our D ONE EXTRA SERIES' REST with 2nd-and-short.
GATOR BALL ON THE SACK/FUMBLE. Aw MAN--offside...give it back...well, pf, anyway. OOOH--throw that again---SIX! (I love it, but I also HATE it: OUR D IS OUR BEST SCORING SQUAD--Purifoy leading the way, ALL the way...)

Gotta love Purifoy. Shoot, they NEED him on offense--but he gets more scoring chances on the OTHER side of the ball! Sounds like a smart-ass joke--but the joke is, it's the truth!

I really do not care for Luchez returning punts and kickoffs. We need to go recruit a kick off specialist or two.

Overall great game so far, J. Harrison made a bad play by poking the official.

Tyler looking poised as he supposed too.

And yo Northwestern is beating OSU!!!! lol.

That is the play that Jeff Driskel does not make.

I mean no disrespect to JD, but Tyler Murphy just makes really good throws and makes better decisions. I hope he keeps building week to week as he has been doing.

I'm so frustrated watching this offense, I just wanna see them run it down the field, down their THROATS--but now they're "throwin' to open up the pass" like I always WANT them to from the outset (lol)--wtf, they just won't function like a mediocre running team, fer cryin out loud--Yup, they score on the SHOVEL pass...This is FUNNY.

Agree with everything you say here Dale (you been quiet during the game)...I'd feel better 'bout this team if they'd now just show us offensively that they can get BOTH games goin', run AND pass. pass AND run--all used coherently in a designed tactical approach to "gameplanning"...
...And though of COURSE a Gator win takes FAR precedence, I'll now turn to that OTHER game, and take great pleasure in an OSU/(let's face it)MEYER-loss, screwing their "gotta win 'em ALL" (but it's still pretty early in the 2nd half)...Oh C'mon Powell, ANOTHER late penalty on Powell--after the action again--WHY, man??? Stupid and selfish and just neither smart nor good for the team.

Btw--if I were Muschamp, I'd at least come on like there's little to celebrate with this win--just too much selfishness and stupidity, and while there were some signs of life in the passing game on offense as the game wore on, the running game regressed to pre-2013 levels--with the whole penalty-thing, worse than ever, playing a HUGE role in keeping it closer longer than it would have or should have done. Lots of disappointing foolishness--and it shouldn't be happening anymore: It's gonna COST us a game, at this rate.
(Speaking of "inept", how 'bout this ESPN-U technical direction?--Can't keep things back "up" even after supposedly "restoring" the signal--having worked in TV at that level early in my career, I know how badly someone "dropped the ball here--first in having to "throw it back" to the ESPN studios in Bristol, but THEN to repeatedly tell them "We GOT it! Throw it back..." and having it fail again...shouldn't BE such a big deal, maybe, but it is--especially how you handle it and keep things "smooth as possible" in the middle of chaos and freak-outs...See, after being in BATTLE, like cramming for finals in college, "This ain't pressure..." was my general attitude, and "Staying frosty" gets to be a good thing to be known for when everyone else is losing it. Some of y'all know EXACTLY what I mean...)

Muschamp needs to go to the soccer team see what they have cause we need a kicker bad.
Meanwhile, we take a longer look at this walk-on with the big leg--didn't show Hardin's accuracy from all over the place back in camp--but as I noted in-game, Hardin showed it ALL, was the best kicker BY FAR in the Fla. prep system last couple of years before graduating and coming to UF. I think that may be what had Muschamp sticking with him for so long, then finally abandoning him, for good I think if the new guy settles in and stays healthy: Realization that if you have the leg AND the accuracy in practice, but more and more suck when it counts, then that's NERVES that are beating you--you're essentially beating yourself--and in the end (especially at the end of GAMES), it's staying cool, NOT letting your nerves and/or the crowd or the noise or "the pressure of the situation" beat you, just knocking it thru', that counts--counts a WHOLE lot more than how good you're "supposed" to be.
