Let's face one of MANY "bottom lines" here:
The ONLY times we've seen a long pass thrown and CAUGHT by our Gators for literally SERVERAL YEARS has been when TREON HARRIS was in there and throwing it. I am completely sick of hearing about how he runs, how he is "accurate short and medium", and how he "has to make better decisions, but it isn't all his fault...".
Jeff Driskel is a serviceable BACKUP QB at this level, kinda kid you demote LONG before now and bring in ONLY to mop up or in case of injury to your STARTER--who SO OBVIOUSLY should be (if not for Muschamp blindness, cowardly and/or dithering Will Muschamp, by now experienced) Treon Harris, it is just one more piece of evidence as to his failure and inability at this level, in this job. He'll catch on as a DC somewhere fairly big (or a HEAD Coach somewhere desperate AND quite a bit further down the pecking-order, IF they can afford to outbid a larger school that'll pay him pretty good DC money--that's how this game is played now, the"hiring" game, that is), but the important thing as far as WE'RE concerned is, HE'LL BE GONE!!!
I'm for firing him mid-season now and letting Roper have a crack at things--no matter what their long term ideas are. Ya don't lie to Kurt, you tell him of your long-range efforts, but you give him the chance, if he wants it, understanding that neither wild success nor continued slide will change anything: If "the next guy" wants him he'll stay, if not, well, that;ll be that--but he gets a SHOT at controlling his own destiny. Even if it doesn't earn him a permanent job, it might well be his big time audition for his NEXT job elsewhere. Little to lose, lots to gain--for him AND us.
And we're rid of Muschamp.
