Well, I'm putting this up here in a free moment, but fact is (and I can't BELIEVE this) I'm unexpectedly working this mornin', called away to do rewrites on-loco this week, expected to be done YESTERDAY--and now trying desperately to see this thing wrapped before 3:30pm Eastern--so I may be late getting back with y'all here. Here's my quick take, goin' in:
This is one we SHOULD win, obviously, and would do so handily had we ANY offense--but that's something we have yet to show, I don't have to tell ANY Gator, and now Demarcus R. has been suspended for the game due to the dreaded "violated team rules"...Like we could AFFORD to lose one of the only promising pieces of a passing game that has yet to materialize....and WHAT'S WITH THIS KID ANYWAY?!! Can he, WILL he ever get it together enough to manage QUALIFYING for an actual spot on the field, IN THE GAME? And oh yeah, that just promises a BREAKOUT day for that wide-open "Pease-plan"-attack we were all expecting (HA!)...Oh well, truth is I think we all knew it was gonna be "cloud'o'dust"-time no matter WHAT--never mind that THAT is exactly what every defense will be SITTING on until we show we can do anything else. Sigh--we'll win some thjis year, but it'll be slow, frustrating, closer and tenser than it has to be, and not a whole lotta fun to watch (or even "sit through", if the "penalty parade" on BOTH sides of the ball continues).
Do I sound slightly down, a little bitter? It's because I'm seeing signs of a team "doing less with more" to a degree rivaled only by the one here in Austin (and I don't mean St. Edward's). Time is NOW to break that trend before it starts, THAT's why you DON'T just "shut it down, play it safe". It ISN'T just this game, what you're telling this OR future opponents: It's what you're saying to YOUR team.
Sigh. Oh well. Let's tee it up and wear 'em down--That WILL be "The Plan". GO GATORS!!!
