Gators get 2009 verbal commitment

The day after finalizing their 2008 football recruiting class, the Florida Gators went to work on the class of 2009.

The first prospect in the class is Valdosta Lowndes athlete Greg Reid, who committed to the Gators on Thursday, the day after national signing day.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound Reid is being recruited as an athlete. The long-time Gator fan is considered one of the top juniors in the state of Georgia.

For defending state champion Lowndes, Reid is expected to play a number of positions, including quarterback and running back.

Reid was one of several dozen 2009 prospects who visited UF on the Gators' junior day two weeks ago.

Does anyone know why Reid backed off his commitment to Florida? I hear he might play corner at the college level. Why wouldn't he want to be a part of our secondary?

he pretty much wanted to see where his friends went, and we got one of his best friend, andre debose so I don't see why he wouldnt sign here by signing day, that is unless his other tight friends go to miami then he might go there and we might lose andre debose too lets just hope all of them decide on florida since we got debose!
