Is Moody Done as a Gator???

So Moody fumbles his first time out and we don't see him the rest of the game. Did he get hurt? Has Meyer just given up on him?

Thoughts?

No he didn't get hurt, and no Meyer hasn't given up on him. He didn't run the ball the rest of the game as punishment for the fumble. He did play on special teams the rest of the game. Backs are punished all the time for fumbling, you shouldn't read too muh into it. If Gillislee's fumble had come earlier in the game, he most likely would have faced the same punishment.

It was a sloppy win, but a win nonetheless. I hate seeing Moody fumble, but I expect good things to come out of him from now on. Brandon James seems to be meeting my expectations. Tebow threw for over 200 yards, but his completion percentage is only made up for by his TDs. Tebow had a good day, but at this rate his Heisman hopes might be going down (I have not checked the Heisman "polls" yet).

I'm not sure how you can say Tebow's Heisman chances are goind down after a 5 touchdown performance?!

The 4 passing touchdowns were a career high and the rushing td moved him into third place on the all time SEC list.

Those are definitely Heisman credentials.

Coach Meyer always gives players who make a mistake or miss an assignment a chance to redeem themselves, and Moody will get his chance to do the same.

Of the three running backs: Demps, Rainey and Moody ... there's no denying Moody is in 3rd place behind them. He had a case of the fumbles at USC and has fumbled several times at UF too. Granted it was sloppy yesterday, but it's not like this was his first time.

I can't see Moody getting the ball in close-game situations.

I agree that his numbers are Heisman credentials, but those came against lower-tier, non-conference teams. When I see similar numbers against Tennessee, Kentucky, LSU (especially LSU), Arkansas (please light up Arkansas--I'll be at that game), MSU, etc. Even Vandy didn't look so powerpuff last week. We don't get another "break" like the previous two teams until Florida International.

After looking at the Heisman tracker, I feel a little better that McCoy has similar stats against similar talent.

TEBOW PASSING (Charleston Southern, Troy)
RAT YDS TD INT CMP%
197.9 425 5 0 64.1
RUSHING
YDS TD YPC
72 2 4.8

MCCOY PASSING (Louisiana-Monroe, Wyoming)
RAT YDS TD INT CMP%
155.8 654 5 2 67.1
RUSHING
YDS TD YPC
35 1 2.2

Well I'm glad you feel better about him. You can't really fault a guy or say he is losing the Heisman for putting up good numbers against the competition that is put in front of him. He doesnt make the schedule.

Good point. I would like to see him keep pace with McCoy, since there will be an overriding temptation to give it to McCoy since "it's his turn" if the numbers are too close. Typically, McCoy has better completion and QB rating. Tebow will likely fall behind in total yards and maybe TDs against the harder opponents and as we use the rushing attack more. I know he doesn't choose his opponents, but the selection committee will only see total numbers at the end of the season.

I have to say that I am glad that he will get another chance. At this point it has to be a mental thing more than ability. I know this would be very hard for Coach to do but I think they should let him play even if he does fumble next time and keep giving him the ball to get his confidence back. Nothing worse than having a players confidence shaken.

A little more on Moody and what followed after the fumble: http://www.gatorcountry.com/football/article/thou_shalt_not_fumble/7123

Saturday, it was evident that Moody was distraught on the sidelines after the fumble and later in the game, he was seen sitting on the bench with his head hung low while Tim Tebow, Aaron Hernandez and the Pouncey Twins gave him a pep talk.

I was watching all of that take place on the sidelines. It actually looked like Moody was crying. Pouncey looked more like he was yelling at him than giving him a pep talk.
