OK--Like everyone else, I figure that the biggest danger for us THIS weekend is enough over-confidence for us to look bad in the first half again...we WILL win this game, going away. I'd like to think, though, that even that much big-headedness is unlikely, at least consciously: Muschamp & Co. won't LET that happen. This "tough, disciplined and steady"-thing they stress, while it's begun to show itself when it counts, hasn't been sustained in any way so far...they need the kind of go-out-and-get-it-done-from-start-to-finish type of effort, and they know it. Film of last week's game, especially that 1st half, the sloppiness, penalties and uneven play, should put things in proper attitude and perspective.
There are things, then, that we can accomplish in this week's practice AND game: both in play among our starters and experience among the back-ups. Just as important perhaps is having a couple of weeks here to get a little healthier, give some of the "walking wounded" a chance to get back nearer 100%--that goes both for players who are playing through it, and hopefully maybe a couple or three that HAVEN'T made the field yet. Along with our difficulty yet pulling ourselves together for a whole-team, whole-game effort, my other large concern is of course with that overall health of both offensive and defensive squads. Last season's "bad luck" in that regard has seemed to continue into the beginning of 2012--it hasn't cost us a game yet, but it clearly has weakened us in every way. Going into October, again (presumably) 4-and-0, and again stepping up in terms of quality of SEC-opponent, it will be far too easy to also repeat last year's eventual outcome unless we can improve on ALL of the aforementioned factors to SOME degree.
I have my own ideas as to where and how we need to do better in all of these, but I'd like to hear YOURS. What needs working on IN-game? Who needs to step up? Who maybe needs a week or two to heal here--either among starters or would-be starters who have been slowed by injury? Who ISN'T getting-it-done, and maybe needs to be sat-down, or at least played LESS if we CAN'T get the obvious guys ahead of them healthy enough to get more reps--and who should be moved UP in the depth-charts to see if THEY can contribute? Where is the balance-point between getting our offense, especially our young QB, more work and more diversity and experience in our attack, and limiting how much we show FUTURE opponents while at the same time getting the back-ups (especially Brisset) experience, for the sake of depth?
Come on, GE: I KNOW you have thoughts, feelings and ideas on all of this and more.

I worry about each game each week, but I worry less about UK than other SEC teams.

Kentucky is terrible and looked awefull last week.

Per an inside source.... Kentucky is taking this week very serious. ha! I hope to see UF roll in this one.

Did anyone see the Tweets from former UK QB Jared Lorenzen? Brent Pease was his coach years ago. Jared is butt-hurt about how hard Pease was on him, and said some things that infuriated Pease. Rumor has it that Pease may be angry enough to hang 50 points on UK.

Where can I follow Jared? Also make it 70 points, I don't care just win.

If Florida can hang 27 points on a much better Tennessee team this year (cut them some slack...they are better than last year), and knowing that this year's Kentucky is that much worse than last year...Florida beat Tennessee 33-27 and Kentucky 48-10 last year...I can easily see Florida teeing off on Kentucky to the tune of 50 or more. With a bye week coming up, and LSU coming to the Swamp, they could either take it easy after 30 points or let the backups pile up some points. Heck, let Burton try to break his own record.

Well, I have NO problem with a big blow-out--we could ALL stand a relaxed and FUN afternoon for a change...

I'm not worried until they play LSU.
OK, LF, but what do you think we can work on, who can we get healthy, etc., by the time we DO go up against LSU--and how much of a chance does ANY of it give us?

Better start for one (both sides of the ball) and of course cut down on penalties.

I totally agree: I REALLY wanna see BOTH of those THIS week--in fact I pretty well expect it, DEMAND it, more so than any "70+ points" (fun as that would be)...Yeah, those two points are key, and maybe resting Gilly and getting him back near 100%, while Brown or SOMEONE finally steps forward to show some skill and depth at RB (I swear, if MB doesn't come out running HARD this Sat., I say sit him and let's give Hines, or one of the other guys who've been practicing at RB after being moved from other positions since the spring, a shot at backing us up there--it may already have come to that in the coaches' eyes; we'll see, but so far Mack Brown has only seemed to show why we HADN'T seen him in there, last year OR this). Of course, like E- said, there's also Burton: UK might be thinking they are gonna be READY for that after last year, but the only thing that will limit him this time is probably our just-coming-into-his-own "QB-of-the-future" running a more diversified offense--and the coaches wanting to give HIM more time executing a game plan (and hopefully getting a little more "positive reinforcement" for his trouble and hard work). I can see Burton getting some chances to run that "Wild Gator"-offense (if it still isn't called that, it SHOULD be) again, though.

I am trying to temper my enthusiasm. LSU and Alabama are in another league of skill, depth, and size right now. Florida cannot go toe-to-toe against LSU or Alabama right now and win 9 out of 10 times. The Gators have shown heart, which gets them the ability to win 3 or 4 times out of 10 against LSU. Remember that even in the win over aTm, some of our biggest, strongest athletes were laying on the ground after taking a beating from aTm. LSU's defense is built like aTm's, but is more skilled. Florida has a chance to beat LSU, but it will take some miscues from LSU, and Florida players avoiding injury. The good thing about LSU is that historically, Florida has been able to beat better LSU teams. Florida just has to play smart, execute well, and not fall asleep with fundamentals (such as covering the punter).
