Meyer says Addazio will remain Florida's OC in '11

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Coach Urban Meyer expects to get Florida back to the "elite level," and he plans to have offensive coordinator Steve Addazio along for the rebuilding project.
Meyer says he has no plans to fire or demote Addazio, whose lackluster offense and underachieving offensive line are receiving the brunt of the blame for the program's first three-game losing streak at home in more than two decades.
There's even more news that surely will sound like fingernails across a chalkboard for many Florida fans: Quarterback John Brantley, who's clearly misfit in the spread offense, insists he will return for his senior season.
Brantley calls the season a "tragedy" and believes the coaching staff will tweak the offense to better suit his skills.

His answer did sound kind of evasive though. Meyer said he is going to thoroughly evaluate all staff members at the end of the season. Even if Meyer has his mind made up to demote Addazio at the end of the season, he would never announce it this way. I actually don't think Meyer would announce it at all. It would just happen.

why?????

coordinators always get canned after crappy yrs like this why is meyer being so damn stubborn and blaming it on everything but addazio

i know were not gonna fire addazio he was recruiter of the yr last yr but he is not a OC

My guess at this point would be that Azzanni calls the plays next season or an outside hire is made. I'm hearing rumblings that Scott Loeffler wants to leave the program.

I can't imagine how in the world Addazio will remain the OC for next season. I guess stranger things have happened, but if it does, I will not approve. I have been patient for almost two seasons, but the game against USC was the last straw. I am not embarassed or ashamed to lose to USC as they're a pretty good team and I'm happy for Spurrier. But our offense was embarassing.

I'm not calling for any changes right now, except getting a new OC. I think Addazio should stay as our o-line coach, though.

that really does sound like bowden keeping his friends around and blaming the team saying we dont have the playmakers when we obviously do

i think we would be at worst a 2 loss team if we had oregon or aub's OC

Can't argue with your reasoning...scary, ain't it?
After Sat.'s game I commented here that I had a "sinking feeling" that the explanation for Meter's refusal to see what are to everyone else "obvious truths" was that he has hardened into the view that he is right about everything he's done, every choice and move he's made, and that it is the PLAYER'S fault that it has all gone so badly. The reason that was (as I put it then) "my greatest fear" was that THAT would mean he would do NOTHING to change any of it--not just this year but NEXT.
Now comes his own words on this very subject, and :my greatest fear" seems real: he blames "the players' execution", and insists categorically that there the offense will not change in 2011, that Addazio will be th OC and Brantley will be the starting QB.
(So basically, as long as Meyer is our coach, at this point we must hope against HOPE that he is just completely bullsh*tting, for his own obscure reasons...)

Seriously what will it take for Meyer to remove Addazio? A lost to App State? Man, I hope not though Lloyd Carr was force out after that season. I hope Jeremy Foley begs the differ. Also to Brantley, if the coaches didn't tweak the offense before this season what makes likely they do it for 2011? Well Unless they fire Addazio.

Next year will look a lot like this one. My guess is that Meyer thinks the results will be different with a healthy Demps and Rainey, a freshman QB playing the role of Tebow, and some shuffling of the skill positions. Addazio may focus on the o-line, or they will promote within for an o-line coach, but not much will change. Maybe an assistant or two will swap out or change teams. That's how I read the latest statements from Meyer.

haha. yeah, it'll be a great fire starter! hehe

But yeah bro i think you're right. Hope so anyways. I'm not ready to call for his head yet.

We have to have the most negative forum here ever. Negativity spews and spreads so quickly... and most of it started with DRU21041832043524932472095723409243095832490234520345320948234957234052437602384594851320449812304543058132495435... shame how one person can bring a whole forum down. I can't stand negative people.

I will be the first to admit that I am neither the most positive nor the most negative person on the forum. Internet forums are one of those places where we get to see everyone's ups and downs. If someone really turns you off, you can click on his name and place him on the ignore list. There is also the private message function--just let the person know how much he sucks, put him on the ignore list, and press on. Maybe take him off the ignore list at the end of the football season. I don't know. Just an idea. Group hug, anybody?

It would have to be Auburn's. Oregon's OC is just a place filler. The head coach, Chip Kelly, coordinates the offense for all intents and purposes. But I think a bunch of teams out there are hoping that Oregon OC learns a lot and can pass it on to them. I'm hoping so. Because Malzahn will never leave Auburn in a lateral move. I think he wants a head coaching spot.
