Miami game memories - 2002

It was the 2002 football season. I was a sophomore living in Campus Club with 3 of my friends. It was the weekend of the Miami game and our whole building had a party that Friday night before the game. Lots of UF students are from Miami, and we had a few in our building. They invited all their "thug" Miami friends to party for the weekend. You know how Gville parties can escalate.

This thing turned into a 300+ person street party in Campus Club. These Miami guys started throwing glass beer bottles from the apartment stairs down into the streets. They're chanting all these stupid Hurricane fight songs and stuff just trying to instigate. A couple fights broke out. Needless to say, by about 1 am the cops show up in a paddywagon and riot gear to break this thing up. They must have given out 50 underage drinking citations and cuffed a dozen other people.

It was a crazy night.

Miami fans party hard because they have nothing to look forward to on actual game days.

Thinking on those two losses back in 2002 and 2003 still gets my blood boiling to this day. We weren't as prepared as we should have been in 2002 for that game, and there was no excuse to have squandered a lead in 2003 after Zook went into "prevent" mode only to have that strategy backfire on him.

It's PAYBACK time this year, and it seems that Coach Meyer is aware of the intensity of this rivalry. Let's avenge those two losses and get a leg up on the Canes!
