RECRUITING UPDATE - POINT GUARD COMING?
Florida's search for a point guard to replace Nick Calathes could come after the recent resignation of USC coach Tim Floyd.

Lamont "Mo Mo" Jones, a 6-foot, 190-pound guard from New York City is interested in coming to Florida after being released from his USC letter of intent, according to a source close to the program.

Arizona also is in the mix, though 'Zona insiders concede that he's more interested in UF. Jones, the 88th ranked prospect in the class of 2009 according to ESPN.com, is touted as a scoring point guard who also plays aggressive defense. He grew up in Harlem, a renowned hotbed of basketball talent that most recently produced ex-N.C. State star Julius Hodge.

Florida reportedly has no interest is singing another 2009 New York City standout, swing-man Lance Stephenson, because of his excess baggage. Stephenson's interest in UF was chronicled in our May 25th blog.

Meanwhile, reports have Florida moving closer to securing a commitment from Brazilian 7-footer Fab Melo for the Class of 2010, though Louisville and Syracuse remain in the mix.

He's a little small, but I agree that he'd be a good fit for our team. He can't replace Calathes... but would give us some much needed depth.

he decommitted from USC.. i think its that coach from usc the reason for all of them decommitting.

Point guard prospect chooses Arizona over Florida

Lamont "Mo Mo" Jones, a 5-foot-11 combination guard from Oak Hill Academy who visited Florida last week, has committed to Arizona, his high school coach, Steve Smith, told Goazcats.com.
"He left a message on my phone and said he did (commit to Arizona)," Smith said.

"I think he's going to be a good player. He's a freshman and he can play both guard spots. That helps as a freshman. If you get stuck in one position, sometimes it’s hard to get minutes as a freshman. The fact that he can play one or two, I think it helps that he can play."
